Hi there! My name is Rebecca, I am the recipe developer, head chef, dish washer, food styler and photographer, and blogger of our.kitchen. This girl loves to cook, bake, go out to restaurants, and really any excuse to get together around good food.
I grew up in a household where both my parents enjoyed cooking. We ate dinner together as a family nearly every night and my mom was always trying out new recipes. Growing up, my siblings and I spent a lot of time in the kitchen learning from my mom how to make pie, and my dad, meatloaf – his specialty. My mom would can fruit and vegetables when they were in season to enjoy throughout the year, and she would make everything, EVERYTHING from scratch. I developed a genuine interest in cooking, nutrition, learning about the way bodies use and process food, and the impact growing food has on our environment. I love experimenting with recipes, trying new foods, and in the end sitting down to enjoy the meal.
My love to be inspired by the seasons. I believe that tasty food comes from quality ingredients. Produce that is in season and is grown locally provides for the best-tasting food and is the most fun to cook with. Summer, I try to keep things fresh, light and easy. Once fall hits, I’m ready for all the soups. Then winter rolls around and there is nothing more enjoyable than holing up in my kitchen baking all the comforting goodies. I love strong flavors (ginger, spices, aromatics, citrus, vinegar, etc.) and love to travel – as a result, I am always making some type food inspired by my travels with my own personal spin.
I started our.kitchen as a way to document recipes, practice food photography, and also commemorate all the other stuff that makes life so sweet.
